The challenge? Encourage safer motoring. The results? Driving 60,000 new customers to download the app.
To slam the brakes on dangerous driving, Discovery Insure introduced a smartphone app that would monitor and score individual driving performance. It would also provide driving tips to motorists with less than perfect habits. Tasked with the launch of the app to the public, we created the Discovery Insure Driving Challenge (DIDC). We also developed an integrated campaign that incentivised motorists with a share in R1 million’s worth of fuel vouchers. And encouraged them to challenge family members, friends and colleagues to compare driving skills.

This video showcased the app's ability to use a smartphone's accelerometer and gps to provide detailed driving information.

It also explained the mechanics of the competition and the potential prizes to be won, which included R1 million in BP petrol vouchers and a trip for four to the Monaco Grand Prix
